Spider-Man, he's back in the MCU

Spidey’s back in the MCU after Sony-Marvel fallout

After the kerfuffle between Sony and Marvel, it appears the two are set to create a brand-new film together. Not only is that a shock, but the film is even a Spider-Man flick that will bring him back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film is talking with filmmaker Jon Watts, the man behind the last two Spidey films, to direct the film which has a 2021 release date. Marvel’s Kevin Feigie is likely to step up as part of production as well as part of Marvel’s film branch.

The new deal hasn’t been disclosed, but it at least gives enough creative power to both parties for them to even consider partnering again. Some fans may see this as a glimmer of hope as money talks in the entertainment industry. If the films do exceedingly well, who knows, maybe Sony and Marvel will work it out and continue to make Spider-Man films.

Last month, Sony and Marvel argued about some of the terms and co-financing of the film franchise, Marvel believed they deserved a bigger cut and – to put it bluntly – all hell broke loose. Sony backed away from Marvel and announced that they had no plans to continue working with them, much to the chagrin of Spidey fans who didn’t like how Sony made the pre-Tom Holland films.

This next Spider-Man film which will toss him back into the MCU is going to make its way to theaters July 16, 2021.
