ZAG Entertainment and Man of Action have joined forces to produce the brand-new CGI / live-action Cartoon Network series, Power Players. The series follows Axel, a boy who found the Power Bandz, only to discover that it turns him into a toy-sized action figure called Action Axel. With these new-found abilities, he and his team of toy heroes make it their goal to thwart the evil exploits of robotic villain Madcap and his toy goons.
The series will see ZAG Entertainment founder Jeremy Zag and Aton Soumache as producers. Man of Action members Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, and Steven T. Seagle alongside Cedric Pilot, Carine Karsenti and Kevin Marciano will be there to executive produce. Tarik Hamdine and Yohan Parents are set to direct.
The cartoon is based on an idea of Jeremy Zag, who most recently became known for his contribution to Thomas Astruc’s Miraculous Ladybug: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. Meanwhile, Man of Action was the team that created the characters and team in Big Hero 6. Their biggest accomplishment, though, was creating, writing, and executive producing Ben 10.
The series has been pushed back multiple times, having been meant to launch in 2017 until it was pushed back. The series was later pushed further until 2018 and here we are.
Power Players is going to begin syndication on Cartoon Network on September 21, 2019.
