The scripted comedy series, Muppets Live Another Day, is no longer coming to Disney+. The series, which was going to be written and executive produced by Frozen actor Josh Gad, was canned because of a difference in the series’ creative vision between the crew and Muppet Studios.
This came to a grinding halt, though, as Muppet Studios CEO departed and Disney Parks Live Entertainment senior VP took the position. Both parties felt strongly about their own versions about the classic Disney-owned IP.
The show was never officially announced, but according to THR, it’s been in production since around February.
The cancellation of Muppets Live Another Day will not affect Muppets Now, the unscripted short-form Disney+ series. It’s still coming sometime next year.
Josh Gad, who was one of the spearheaders, is also working on Amazing Stories for Apple’s upcoming streaming service.
Disney+ is going to go public November 12.
