Following Spider-Man‘s Marvel and Sony fallout, screenwriters Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have been contacted for a new project. The duo is going to work on a Madame Web film together in the same universe as Sony’s Spider-Man.
Next to nothing is known about the film, not even its director has been solidified. According to Collider, Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad are the lead speculations as both worked on Sony’s Venom film as producers. Palak Patel will be overseeing the film’s production as part of Sony Pictures.
Both Sazama and Sharpless worked together to create the upcoming Morbius film for Sony.
First appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #210, Cassandra Webb, better known as Madame Web, has precognitive powers. She is often designed to be a blind woman troubled with a chronic neuromuscular disease. This forces her to be bound to a life support system designed like a spider web.
No indication when the film will begin production.
