Jason Bateman is in talks to direct and star in the Clue reboot alongside Ryan Reynolds. Bateman, fresh from the Netflix series, Ozark, is only in early talks, but it wouldn’t be too surprising for him to take up the offer.
Reynolds ran into this three-year producing deal late last year following the success of the Deadpool franchise. Deadpool writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, were brought on to write the Clue reboot. Hasbro will also be having a hand in the movie’s production with Allspark Pictures working with Reynolds’ Maximum Effort.
This isn’t the first time Clue was brought onto the big screen. In 1985, Jonathan Lynn directed a film with the same title, based on the classic board game. In it, the small group had to figure out who murdered Mr. Boddy before they were next. The film wasn’t a strictly serious film, meaning this won’t be too far off what either actor can do.
Last week, Reynolds was in the news for his choice to star and produce a musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol. Bateman, on the other hand, has recently gone back to working on Ozark as a director and returning actor.
